Tanner's Creek Garden Center is operated by Eggleston Services , a not-for-profit organization that has been dedicated to the education, training and employment of persons with disabilities for over 50 years. Our goal is to assist people in obtaining work opportunities so that they may better integrate in the community. Over the last several decades we have expanded our services through partnerships with local businesses and government agencies offering our associates the chance to earn a living, and lead full and independent lives.
Tanners Creek Garden Center and Horticultural Services was, opened in 1999, and provides education, training and employment opportunities in retail sales, greenhouse management, plant propagation, grounds maintenance, and landscaping. Tanners Creek represents the shared vision of both Eggleston Services and the Virginia Zoological Society creating "horticulturally" focused employment and training opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

Tanners Creek envisions an environment in which diversity, respect and individual growth are the cornerstones uniting our community. Our horticultural center provides education, training and employment opportunities in plant propagation, plant care, and grounds maintenance. We believe that all persons deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. Whether one has intellectual disabilities or some type of cultural difference we all play a vital role in creating and molding the communities we live in.

| Plants |
All of our plants are grown by our Associates at Tanner’s Creek Greenhouses; or purchased from the most respected nurseries in the Tidewater region. We offer only Virginia Grown and Certified true to name plant material of the highest quality. While our Associates benefit from the horticultural therapy and work opportunities created, the community benefits from the quality of the plants and information they receive from the knowledgeable staff at Tanner’s Creek Garden Center.

We are the original garden center in the Tidewater to think and act GREEN. People Plants Earth has been our slogan since our inception. Being green is something we have all become very aware of lately.Did you know that you can reduce your energy consumption by as much as 25% with the proper placement and choice of trees and shrubs. A well designed landscape that incorporates the use of native plants can reduce the consumption of water, pesticides, fertilizers and fuel used for maintenance. Plants improve outdoor and indoor air quality by releasing oxygen and removing harmful pollutants from the air. Whether you want to use native plants or garden organically we are always willing to help you make the right choice for our environment.
